My desktop setup:
- Microsoft Windows Vista x64 SP1.
- 8GB physical RAM.
- Non-brand Desktop.
Let me explain what I did:
- More than 75 applications running simultaneously. (Still can’t beat 165 Linux applications)
- Running 2 x VMware ESX 3.0.x(1024MB RAM for each ESX Server) on top of VMware Workstation 6.0.3
- Running 2 x Windows 2003 Server(512MB RAM for each Win2K3) on top of VMware Workstation 6.0.3.
- Running Ubuntu 8.04 beta(1024MB RAM) on top of VMware Workstation 6.0.3.
- Running Windows 2008 Data Center(2048MB RAM) on top of VMware Workstation 6.0.3.
- Running SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 (1024MB RAM) on top of VMware Workstation 6.0.3.

Ubuntu 8.04 Beta Released
Written by Planet Lowyat on March 21, 2008 – 11:34 pm -
Previously I posted about Ubuntu Hardy 8.04 Alpha 4 and now Ubuntu bring you the absolute latest and greatest software Ubuntu Hardy 8.04 beta with features:
- GNOME 2.22
- Linux kernel 2.6.24
- Firefox 3 beta 4
- Xorg 7.3
- PolicyKit is now integrated in the administrative user interfaces
- PulseAudio is enabled by default
- The Brasero CD/DVD burning application
- The new Vinagre VNC client is installed by default in Beta, replacing xvnc4viewer
- The GTK version of the popular Transmission BitTorrent client comes preinstalled in Ubuntu, replacing the Gnome BitTorrent download
- Active Directory Integration
- ufw (Uncomplicated Firewall), a new host-based firewall application configurable from the command line which is designed to make administering a firewall easier for end users while not getting in the way of network administrators
- iSCSI Initiator has been fully integrated in the kernel, allowing Ubuntu to mount iSCSI targets as a block device
- To ease the transition of Windows users, it includes Wubi, which allows users to install and uninstall Ubuntu like any other Windows application
- It does not require a dedicated partition, nor does it affect the existing bootloader, yet users can experience a dual-boot setup almost identical to a full installation
- WinFOSS and the Windows open source software have been replaced by umenu, a simple launcher that lets the user install Ubuntu from Windows using Wubi, install Ubuntu to a partition without having to make their CD-ROM the first boot device

Running Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron Alpha 4
Written by Planet Lowyat on February 5, 2008 – 12:36 am -Ubuntu 8.04 codename Hardy Heron alpha 4 was officially released 2 days back and is now available for download. This alpha 4 released offers an early look at some of the features that will be included in the final 8.04 release, which is scheduled for April 2008.
Personally I took the opportunity to test it on my VMware Workstation 6 today. Please note that please do not enable network setup during Ubuntu installation, the system try to locate for some update that make me wait for more than half an hour. Basically I have found 2 bug in this testing so far.
The first bug I was found is Firefox, according to Ubuntu 8.04 alpha 4 I suppose to have Firefox 3 beta 2 but it’s running on Firefox 2.0.0.10.

Upgrading From Windows Vista To Windows XP
Written by pm on December 16, 2007 – 1:06 pm -What? “Upgrading From Windows Vista To Windows XP” are you kidding?
No! No! No! An article “Review: Windows XP” that posted in Coding Sanity blog that link to Slashdot with more than 300 comments and keep increasing.
This is really interesting! Personally I still prefer Windows XP if choice between XP & Vista. Anyway I will suggest use Ubuntu Linux. Said NO to Micro$oft.
