Have you try Google Chrome 5 Beta? Google Chrome 5.0.375.29 has been released to the Beta channel on Linux, Mac, and Windows. Yes, I’m currently running Google Chrome 5.0.375.29 beta on my Windows 7 desktop.

Ten things you should try after installing Chrome 5 beta:

1. Google Chrome remembers zoom settings for each domain. Go to http://www.malaysiakini.com, zoom using Ctrl+ or Ctrl-, close the tab and reopen it. You will get the same zoom setting as previously.

2. Remove individual items from the history. Go to the History tab (Ctrl+H), click on “Edit items”, select the pages you want to remove and click on “Remove selected pages”. For me, I would prefer delete all history instead of individual item from the history.

3. The new bookmark manager is an HTML page that opens in a new tab. It looks better than the previous manager and it has the advantage that extensions will be able to add new features.

4. Synchronize themes and preferences, in addition to bookmarks.

5. Google Chrome includes Adobe’s Flash plug-in. Open a site that uses Flash, right-click on a Flash object and select “About Adobe Flash”. You should be able to see the message “You have version 10,1,53,22 installed”.

6. You can disable individual plug-ins. Go to chrome://plugins/ and disable the plug-ins you don’t need.

7. Extensions in incognito mode. Chrome disables all extensions in incognito mode, but you can manually enable some of them from the Extensions page.

8. Native geolocation. The previous Chrome versions used the Google Gears implementation, but Google Chrome now supports HTML5 geolocation, so that more web applications can easily find your location. Go to Google Maps, click on the small circle above the Street View logo and you’ll see an infobar: “maps.google.com wants to track your location”.

9. Manual translation. Now you can disable the auto-translation feature and still be able to use the built-in translator. Even if you disable the Google Translate integration from Settings/Under the hood, you can still right-click on a page and select “Translate to English”.

10. Reorder extension buttons. You can change the order of the buttons installed by Google Chrome extensions using drag & drop and even hide some of the buttons.

Read more detail about the Google Chrome 5 Beta here.

According to Wikipedia,

PageRank is a link analysis algorithm used by the Google Internet search engine that assigns a numerical weighting to each element of a hyperlinked set of documents, such as the World Wide Web, with the purpose of “measuring” its relative importance within the set. The algorithm may be applied to any collection of entities with reciprocal quotations and references. The numerical weight that it assigns to any given element E is also called the PageRank of E and denoted by PR(E).

The name “PageRank” is a trademark of Google, and the PageRank process has been patented (U.S. Patent 6,285,999). However, the patent is assigned to Stanford University and not to Google. Google has exclusive license rights on the patent from Stanford University. The university received 1.8 million shares of Google in exchange for use of the patent; the shares were sold in 2005 for $336 million.

Page Rank add-ons for Chrome shows the Google PageRank for the current website.

01. Install Google Chrome from http://www.google.com/chrome.
02. Download the Chrome Channel Switcher.
03. Launch the channel switcher, and subscribe to the dev channel. See below:

04. Download Page Rank addons for Chrome.
05. Locate a Chrome shortcut, right click on it, and choose “Properties” from the contextual menu.
06. Locate the “Target” item in the Properties dialog
07. Attach “–enable-extensions” to the end of the string in the “Target” item. E.g. “C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe” –enable-extensions
08. Copy pagerank.crx into drive C:
09. Open Chrome with “file:///C:/pagerank.crx”
10. You will be prompted whether to install it. Say “Yes, I Do”, or click “OK”:
11. Restart Google Chrome
12. Done! You should be able to see Page Rank display on left bottom corner for any particular website.

I think the Chrome dev channel has averaged weekly updates which is really nice because you can literally watch plug-in fixes and other improvements arrive every few days.

Here I would like to share how can I make it.

1. Download and run the Google Chrome Channel Chooser.
2. Click the circle next to Dev.
3. Click Update to save your choice.
4. Click Close.
5. In Google Chrome, click the wrench menu and choose About Google Chrome.
Note: On Windows Vista, updates from the About box require Service Pack 1. With 0.2.149.29 (the current release), on demand updates do not work in Vista SP1 if User Account Control is disabled.
6. Click Update Now to install the current Dev channel release.
7. Restart Google Chrome.

Enjoy! I’m running Google Chrome version 0.4.154.29 now.

After being in testing for literally years, Google Suggest is finally coming to Google.com. This is the feature where as you start to type in the search box, related searches automatically appear below where you are typing.

For example, start typing [olympics] into the search box at Google Suggest, and below the box, you start seeing suggestions such as:

    * olympics 2008
* olympics schedule
* olympics tv schedule
* olympics 2012

It’s easy to move your cursor down to any of the suggestions to select that as your search.
