Today, Asus loaded with Microsoft Windows XP available in BestBuy. The reports were confirmed when BestBuy.com launched a product page for the Eee PC 4G-X.

Running Windows XP on Asus Eee PC

“Though the Asus Eee PC Windows XP variant isn’t due out until sometime in April, HotHardware was able to get their hands on a full retail bundle before they hit store shelves in the US. The standard assortment of accoutrements is included in the bundle, along with a couple of notable upgrades. Asus took the initiative to provide an additional 4GB SD card from Adata, a healthy storage expansion for the system. In addition, an Asus-branded optical mouse was thrown in for good measure. Microsoft’s Windows Live messenger, photo gallery and email suite are pre-installed on the the machine for collaborative and social networking capability, in addition to Microsoft Works for word processing, spreadsheets, and calendar functionality.”

ASUS Published Free SDK for Eee PC

ASUS publishes free SDK for the Eee PC.

This is an open-source project for ASUS Eee PC series. It provides a center for the community of Eee PC users and developers, including source code, documentation and experience sharing. The project is officially supported by ASUS.

Asus Eee PC desktop, Eee Box

We’re waiting to see how is the Asus Eee PC Desktop, Eee Box look like and finally it’s revealed.

So far we don’t have firm details but since this is an Asus “Eee” product, we can assume it follows the same mantra of “Easy to Learn, Easy to Work, Easy to Play”.  Maybe a beefed up Linux distro and application bundle?

Touch Screen Asus Eee PCs

According to Jerry Shen, president of Asustek, stating in January that the company will not implement a touch screen panel option in the company’s next-generation Eee PCs.

The panel makers noted that resistive touch screen panel technology is more mature compared to capacitive touch screen technology for medium-size panel applications. The additional cost of implementing touch-screen panels and related ICs for next-generation Eee PCs is expected to be about US$10, the panel makers added.
