Microsoft Windows XP or Vista control panel can adjust and tweak Windows’ appearance, performance, network connections, security, power, hardware settings and etc.

But to access the Windows Control Panel, you need to navigate through the Start menu or create a shortcut on your computer desktop. Just like an executable or programs file, Control panel applets can easily be launch from the ‘run‘ command. Again, there is no difference with opening items from the Windows Control Panel, but this can save several steps from navigate through the Start menu.

For example, to launch Add New Hardware Wizard, just type hdwwiz.cpl in the run command field and click OK.
