With Firefox 3.0 scheduled to be released on June 17 there is also word (and video) of what’s cooking with Firefox Mobile. Note that it is being designed for touch screens, but not for multi-touch. The thinking there is that multi-touch isn’t yet popular enough and that touch is the lowest common denominator. This will certainly be an interesting development and what you can find at this link is still listed as being in the concept stages.

Windows Home Server Power Pack 1 Public Beta
Written by Planet Lowyat on May 23, 2008 – 10:40 pm -
Are you a loyal Windows Home Server users? A fix for that completely obnoxious data corruption bug is on the way. Microsoft has detailed its plans to release a public beta of its Windows Home Server Power Pack.
The update will include a fix for the data corruption issues that have plagued the OS since its release.
In a message to potential testers the company said:
“Due to the nature of the shared folder data corruption bug (KB #946676) a broad beta test program with sufficient time for feedback is required. The time line for a final release will depend on this feedback and testing, in order to deliver a fix of the highest quality. To meet our goals for the beta test we need the number of beta testers who are actively using and testing the Power Pack 1 beta to ramp up very quickly”
The company is asking for anyone currently using Home Server to sign up to the beta to ensure the data corruption issue is fixed.

Microsoft launches video on Messenger
Written by Planet Lowyat on May 12, 2008 – 11:48 pm -Microsoft Corp has launched a new online service in 20 countries which will allow users to watch video clips at the same time as a network of friends and chat via Windows Live Messenger.
The new service called Messenger TV will offer a range of clips on MSN Video including MTV shows and music clips from providers such as Sony BMG.
The firm hopes the ability to watch clips with friends on different computers will create a new social experience and attract users who already spend hours on social networks.
“Online video has exploded in popularity over the last year, but to date it has been something people watch on their own. Messenger TV is set to change all that,” said John Mangelaars, the vice-president, EMEA, of consumer and online for Microsoft.
“Watching video online can now be a social experience, as people watch videos together, make comments and share reactions.”
The service will launch in 20 countries including many European countries, New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, Brazil, Canada and Mexico but not the United States.
