SingTel bring iPhone to Asia. Malaysia?

According to Reuters, Singapore Telecommunications Ltd (Singtel) and its mobile associates will bring Apple Inc’s popular iPhone to Singapore, India, Australia and the Philippines later this year, Southeast Asia’s largest phone company said on Monday.

SingTel said that it, Bharti Airtel Ltd, Globe Telecom Inc and Australian unit Optus had signed the agreement with Apple.

Asus Eee an Independent Brand soon?

According to Digitimes, Asustek Computer is considering making Eee an independent brand with a lineup products including the original Eee PC notebook, as well as the previously reported upon Eee TV (E-TV), Eee desktop (E-DT), and Eee monitor which are all expected to be introduced by the end of the third quarter this year, according to industry sources.

Through separating Eee as a sub-brand, Asustek believes the product family will be able to jump out of the low-cost market bracket.

In other news, in addition to the Eee PC 900, the company will launch the Eee PC 1001 with a 10-inch panel as well as an 11-inch model by the end of this year, market sources have revealed.

Windows XP SP3 Release Dates

According to close source, Microsoft Windows XP SP3 Release Dates will be:

  • April 14, 2008: Support is available for the release version of Service Pack 3 for Windows XP
  • April 21, 2008: Original Equipment Manufacturers, Volume License, Connect, and MSDN and TechNet subscribers
  • April 29, 2008: Microsoft Update, Windows Update, Download Center
  • June 10, 2008: Automatic Updates

The automatic updates won’t land until June. I believed his delay should give system administrators an ample amount of time to prepare for the upgrade or simply come up with an excuse for when things go awry.

Microsoft planning its own retail stores?

Dell is going to retail, Apple very good in retail and now Microsoft planning its own retail stores?

According to Fudzilla close source to Microsoft, they wants to open and create many retail shops dedicated exclusive to Microsoft and its products.

This is something that Apple did with its many Apple retail stores around the world. Microsoft will put its retail people in the shops with hope that these skilled people will be able to show the true Microsoft experience.

We can only guess that the shop will be filled with lot of software, but it’s likely to include some peripheral stuff such as keyboards and mice as well as some MP3 Zune players. You can count on some computers, but the last paragraph is something we suspect not something that has been confirmed.
