Buy Apple iPhone without contract?
Written by Planet Lowyat on July 6, 2008 – 1:28 am -
As you know in order to get a latest Apple iphone 3G, you have to sign up for 2 year contract with AT&T and the price is USD 199 only. What happen if you need an Apple iPhone without any plan? OR you need an Apple iPhone use in Malaysia? Now, our dream may come true. I believe everyone loves to get one Apple iPhone 3G.
An article in InfoWorld mentions that ‘Freedom will come with a price — $599 for an 8GB device and $699 for a 16GB — but this will mark the first time consumers in the United States are able to buy an iPhone without being tied down to a two-year contract. The phone probably would still be locked for use only on AT&T’s network, said Jupiter Research analyst Michael Gartenberg. But buyers could choose a pay-as-you-go plan for voice service.’ The question still remains, does it make any sense to pay that much for a phone that is still locked to AT&T’s network even if you aren’t bound to a contract?”

Dell E and E Slim
Written by Planet Lowyat on June 13, 2008 – 11:09 pm -Dell enter a mini laptop market, the upcoming Dell mini laptop will be Dell “E” and “E” Slim.
Dell’s breaking the Dell E into two device types, a 8.9-inch model clearly meant to take on the Eee 900, and the 12.1-inch “E Slim” which actually looks positioned to take on the MacBook Air and X300, at a mere 0.8-inches thick, though perhaps in a lower-end capacity.
- E Classic model for super low-end use
- E Video and E Video+ for more RAM, larger flash storage, webcams and Bluetooth
- E Slim come with WiMAX
OS? According to the close source, Dell “E” series will be runing on both Windows XP and Linux.

Dell is expected to offer accessories, such as a USB TV dongle, carry case, second battery, an auto/air adapter, Bluetooth accessories, and external HDD or DVD drive options.
Price? Dell “E” estimated start at $299.

Google Shows Off Android
Written by Planet Lowyat on May 31, 2008 – 12:25 am -Google Inc. showed off its nearly completed mobile Relevant Products/Services software system to about 3,000 computer programmers Wednesday, hoping to cultivate more services and advertising for people on the go.
Although brief, the demonstration at the Internet search leader’s annual developer conference in San Francisco represented the most extensive public look so far at “Android” — an open-source platform being designed for “smart” phones and other mobile devices that surf the Web. Android was first announced nearly seven months ago.
The new Google-powered mobile phone will be able to unlock the handset by drawing a secret shape on the screen.
The new ’signature unlocking’ tool was among the features revealed during a sneak preview in California yesterday.
Other highlights include a built-in compass that will allow people to orientate maps as they use their phone to scout out a restaurant or venue, and a customizable homepage that lets people bookmark their favourite web pages.
The device - which is unlocked by drawing a shape only the owner knows on a nine-square grid - will also include a magnifying tool, to make zooming in on web content easier on a small screen, and a mobile version of the game Pac Man.
