Get To Know About Web Site

Written by Planet Lowyat on February 14, 2008 – 10:55 am -

Who Is Hosting is a tool that enables you to find out who is hosting any web site. Simply type in any domain name, and you’ll get a link to the company that’s hosting this particular domain. It’s that simple! Check out the FAQ and our blog for more info.

Who Is The Owner is a free online tool which enables you to discover who is the owner of any domain by querying more than 350 whois servers in the world.
Simply type in any domain name and you’ll get all the available information (name, address, phone, …) about its owner.

MyIpNeighbors - For those on shared hosting, myIPneighbors IP search is a great way to find out who your neighbors are or just to see how many other websites your hosting company hosts your server. Is your website packed into a crowded host with hundreds of other sites? Or is there questionable content being hosted side by side with your site? If so, it may be time to look for a better host.

BuiltWith - Unlike the above tools, BuiltWith focuses on the website itself. With the help of BuiltWith you can instantly lookup all implemented technologies behind any website (Google, Digg, Reddit, Youtube, yourdomain.com, etc.). If you ever plan to replicate some website, this is the tool you need. Among other things, it will aso give you a basic SEO profile.

Firefox 3 Beta 3 Released

Written by Planet Lowyat on February 13, 2008 – 10:45 am -

Firefox 3 Beta 2 was released in mid of December 2007 and Mozilla has announced the official release of the third Firefox 3 beta on Feb 12 2008. There will likely only be one more beta release after this one before Mozilla begins issuing final release candidates.

Firefox 3 Beta 3 is a developer preview release of Mozilla’s next generation Firefox browser and is being made available for testing purposes only.

What’s New in Firefox 3

[Improved in Beta 3!] Firefox 3 Beta 3 includes approximately 1300 individual changes from the previous beta, including fixes for stability, performance, memory usage, platform enhancements and user interface improvements. Many of these improvements were based on community feedback from the previous beta.

More Secure
  • [Improved in Beta 3!] One-click site info: Click the site favicon in the location bar to see who owns the site and to check if your connection is protected from eavesdropping. Identity verification is prominently displayed and easier to understand. When a site uses Extended Validation (EV) SSL certificates, the site favicon button will turn green and show the name of the company you’re connected to. (Try it here!)
  • [Improved in Beta 3!] Malware Protection: malware protection warns users when they arrive at sites which are known to install viruses, spyware, trojans or other malware. (Try it here!)
  • New Web Forgery Protection page: the content of pages suspected as web forgeries is no longer shown. (Try it here!)
  • New SSL error pages: clearer and stricter error pages are used when Firefox encounters an invalid SSL certificate. (Try it here!)
  • Add-ons and Plugin version check: Firefox now automatically checks add-on and plugin versions and will disable older, insecure versions.
  • Secure add-on updates: to improve add-on update security, add-ons that provide updates in an insecure manner will be disabled.
  • Anti-virus integration: Firefox will inform anti-virus software when downloading executables.
  • Vista Parental Controls: Firefox now respects the Vista system-wide parental control setting for disabling file downloads.
  • Effective top-level domain (eTLD) service better restricts cookies and other restricted content to a single domain.
  • Better protection against cross-site JSON data leaks.
